Coming up this Fall:
Just finished up a staged reading of “P/rn Yesterday” for Theatre Rhinoceros, directed by Alan Quismorio. It was so much fun! (Although I do cringe a little at its creakiness.)
Update! We got a terrific review in the SF BAY TIMES:
I was delighted to witness a stage reading of PORN YESTERDAY—loosely based on the hit 1950 romance/drama movie and earlier play, Born Yesterday—at Spark Arts on September 3. The original play by Andrew Black and Patricia Milton was written years ago, but was discovered and directed by Alan Quismorio as a hilarious parody, replacing the brassy blonde moll and her sugar daddy with a gay porn star, Rex (NickTrengove) and his older lover, producer (JoeTally). Rex is being coached (JasonWayneWong) into a serious role as the gay lover in Shakespeare‘s Edward II. So clever! I anticipate when this gets mounted into an actual play someday soon!
I’m in the Central Works Writers’ Workshop, developing “Bystanders” for next year’s season. I’ll have an invitation-only reading of the first draft the first weekend in November. The 2020 season will be announced formally in October.
I’ve got a private, invitation-only reading of “The Law of Attraction” at New Conservatory Theatre scheduled for mid-October. We’ve assembled the most fantastic cast; I hope they’ll be available and willing to be in the world premiere in 2021.
Finally, I’m excited to have been accepted into the Vermont Studio Center’s November residency program, with a merit grant that pays my way! I’ll be working on my two active projects and perhaps starting a new comedy.
How’s your fall shaping up?
