I’m in the process of reevaluating how I start my day. Generally, I rise, stretch, make and drink coffee, feed and pet BeBop, and check my email.
Ugh. That last bit.
I am reading that how you start the day, your morning routine, is make-or-break for the rest of that day. I don’t believe that; I believe I can restart my day at any time. But certainly starting the morning optimally will make it a better day overall.
“Cell phones are the new cigarettes.” Addictive and bad for you. These are ideas for what to do instead of checking email:
- 20 minutes of meditation
- One-half to an hour of reading
- Write in my journal for 30 minutes
- 10 – 15 minutes of exercise or walking
- If/when I turn on my computer, block distractions using Forest, and start writing immediately.
When you start the day with healthy activities for your brain, you don’t end up depleting your willpower. As a result, I believe I’ll get more done in less time, and have a happier day.
