Wednesday, March 6, at 7 pm, at Tides Theatre in San Francisco, a FREE reading of a chamber musical about love, lies, and art:
MOMENTS OF TRUTH, Book by 3GT Associate Playwright Patricia Milton (me), and Music and Lyrics by Caroline Altman.
In “Moments of Truth,” Nan is a successful painter who is devastated by the abject failure of an exhibit arranged by her art broker husband, Gerald. At the same time, their friend Chloe, a notorious “shock artist,” arrives at the couple’s home. Stinging from her own art scandal in the UK, Chloe involves Nan in a plan to revive both their careers. The women endeavor to capture “moments of truth” by using a lie detector on their models. As the two women embark on this unique collaboration, Nan has no idea it will ultimately threaten the women’s friendship — and her marriage.
The reading features Caroline Altman* as Nan, John Patrick Moore* as Gerald, Dyan McBride* as Chloe, and Steve Rhyne in a number of different roles. Dave Dobrusky is music director. To reserve free seats, visit Vendini ticketing, here.
The theatre will also be showing works of art by seven women artists in conjunction with the reading. There will be a brief talkback after the performance. More here.
